Comparing: The Happiness Killer
Oct 30, 2023Do you find yourself comparing yourself, your relationship, or your life to others quite regularly? This is a common human trait, but if you do this often, and you find yourself always feeling "less than," comparing could be sabotaging your happiness.
Our brain is always seeking more, seeking comfort, and seeking certainty, and comparing is one way that it tries to determine if we're okay. While comparing once in a while is quite common, constant comparing to you friends, others on social media, and even to those you see on TV is when this mental pattern can become very unhealthy and start to make you feel down and not good enough.
Comparing is considered a compulsion in some with OCD, obsessive compulsive disorder.
